TEAM CHECK-IN PROCESS & FAQ’s
Congratulations on your team’s acceptance to the Players Challenge Cup held August 23 & 24, 2025.
COACHING CONFLICTS REQUEST
For coaches with two teams participating in the tournament, the Tournament Committee will guarantee to avoid scheduling conflicts during all Group Play games.
Please Note:
The tournament cannot guarantee scheduling conflict for coaches overseeing more than two teams. However, we will do our best to accommodate such requests.
All conflict requests must be received by Saturday, August 2nd, before midnight.
If you have not already done so, please email the Tournament Director at playerscuptd@gmail.com to request "No Coaching Conflicts." When submitting your request, please include the following details:
- Coach's Name
- Team Names
- Team Genders
- Team Birth Years
Please do not assume the tournament is aware of your coaching assignments or any coaching changes. It is crucial that all relevant information, including coaching coverage or adjustments, be clearly stated in your email request.
The Tournament Committee will not accommodate requests related to personal commitments or events involving other teams outside of the tournament. Additionally, request for early or late start times will not be accepted.
SCHEDULES
Schedules will be posted 7 to 10 days before the actual tournament weekend.
TEAM CANOPIES & BENCHES
Huntington Beach Sports Complex- The Tournament will provide Team Canopies and benches on every field.
Silverlakes Venue- The Tournament will provide Team Canopies and benches on every field.
All other Venues- Teams will need to provide their own Team Canopy and Bench.
ROSTER FREEZE
The roster freeze is Saturday, August 23rd before your first scheduled game. Once you turn in your Match Report/Game Card to the Field Marshal prior to your first scheduled game, your Roster is Frozen. You will not be able to add any players to your Team Roster for the remainder of the tournament.
TOURNAMENT CLUB PASS RULE
Goalkeepers are allowed to participate in more than one team within all age groups, provided that it is age appropriate and strictly in the capacity of a Goalkeeper; they are not eligible to participate as a field player. To do so, a Goalkeeper must be included on the official team roster and listed as "GK" prior to their respective team's first game. It's important to note that no Goalkeeper can be added to the roster after the Roster Freeze deadline.
Field Players are not allowed to participate in more than one team within their own team's age group. However, players are permitted to club pass "up" or "down" if age appropriate between teams outside of their team's age group. To do so, a player must be included on the official team roster prior to their respective team's first game. It's important to note that no players can be added to the roster after the Roster Freeze deadline.
GUEST PLAYERS
Unlimited loan players are permitted.
FORMAT
2019 thru 2016 Divisions will play 7 v 7
2015 & 2014 Divisions will play 9 v 9
2013 thru 2007/08 Divisions will play 11 v 11
SMALL SIDED RULES
2019 thru 2016 Divisions:
Build out lines.
No Heading allowed.
No Punting allowed.
2015 Division:
No Build out lines.
No Heading allowed.
Punting is allowed.
2014 Division:
No Build out lines.
Heading is allowed.
Punting is allowed.
ROSTER SIZE
2019 thru 2016 (7v7 Division): 14 player max roster. All players may dress and play.
2015 & 2014 (9v9 Division): 16 player max roster. All players may dress and play.
2013 thru 2007/08 (11v11 Division): 22 player max roster. All players may dress and play.
MATCH TIMES: Pool Play, Semi-Finals & Finals:
All Divisions will play two 30 minute halves.
SUBSTITUTIONS
Substitution will be allowed during natural stoppage of the match at the referee’s discretion. All divisions, free substitution and re-entry will be allowed.
HOME & AWAY PREPARATIONS
CHOOSING SIDES
Both teams will be on the opposite side of the field from each other. Spectators must be on the same side as their team.
The Home team is the first team listed on the schedule and has choice of side of the field.
PLAYER UNIFORMS
Opponents must wear colors that distinguish them from each other, and also the Referee and the Assistant Referees. It is recommended that the home team wears light uniforms while the away team wears dark uniforms. If there is a conflict in the uniform color, the away team shall change uniforms.
GAME BALLS
The home team is the team listed first on the official schedule. The home team will furnish three game balls.
GUEST PLAYERS
Unlimited guest players.
TEAM CHECK-IN PROCESS
1. PLAYER CARDS: We will accept the following Player ID Cards:
Laminated Player ID Cards
- Virtual/ Phone Photos of Player ID Cards
- GotSport Team Roster & Game Cards with Player Photos.
Note: If no birth year is on the Player ID Card, then a copy of a birth certificate or passport is required.
2. MATCH REPORTS/ GAME CARDS: You will need to download and print a Game Card for every scheduled game located in your GotSport Account. The Game Card needs to be turned in at the Field Marshal Tent 30 minutes before each game. You will be responsible to make sure the score is correct and must sign the Game Card after each game. The Game Card stays with the Field Marshal.
Note: Do not worry if your opponent hasn't inputted their players on the Game Card. Each team will be responsible to turn in their own completed Game Card to the Field Marshal before every game.
3. OFFICIAL TEAM ROSTER: You will need to download and print a copy of your Official Team Roster. Make sure you list all of the players who will be participating throughout the three-day-weekend. Once you turn in your Official Team Roster to the Field Marshal prior to your first scheduled game, your Roster is Frozen. You will not be able to add any players to your Team Roster for the remainder of the tournament.
Game Day Steps & Requirements
1. Requirement Before Each Scheduled Game: The Team Representative will turn in their Game Card and Player ID Credentials before every scheduled game. The Game Card needs to be turned in at the Field Marshal Tent 30 minutes before each game. Players do not need to be present. The Game Cards stay with the Field Marshal during each game.
2. Requirement Immediately After Your Game Ends- Win, Tie or Lose:
STEP 1: After the game, the referee needs to sign both teams Game Cards at the Field Marshal Tent.
STEP 2: After the referee signs the Game Cards, the Team Representative (Coach or Team Admin) also needs to sign the Game Cards to confirm that the referee reported the final score correctly. Once the Referee and Team Representative signs the Game Card, the Field Marshal will return the Players ID's. The signed Game Cards will stay with the Field Marshal. The Field Marshal will report all scores.
Note: Our Field Marshals have been instructed not to return the Player ID Cards if there is No Signature on the Game Card.

Withdrawal from the Tournament
Any team withdrawing before August 1, 2025, will receive a full refund minus $100 processing fee. Any team withdrawing after August 1, 2025, will not be entitled to a refund.
